Jamaliah Senawi

Veterinary Epidemiologist

Dr Jamaliah Senawi is a veterinary epidemiologist at the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia. She obtained her DVM from the University Putra Malaysia (UPM), a Master’s degree in veterinary Epidemiology from Murdoch University, Australia, and a PhD from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. Dr Jamaliah’s vast experience handling animal disease outbreaks and managing animal health emergencies has led her to be nominated as a member of the WOAH ad hoc group in Animal Health Emergency to develop the emergency management standard for the terrestrial animal health code. At the same time, she has a deep interest in foot-and-mouth disease, which is evident from her time as the SEACFMD National Coordinator for Malaysia from 2019 to the present. Dr Jamaliah also actively coordinated many in-country inter-agencies and activities related to health and epidemiology.
