We are delighted to welcome Dr. Shumaila Arif to the APCOVE project as a Senior Technical Officer. Dr. Arif brings extensive experience in academia and research, particularly in infectious diseases, One Health, and zoonotic diseases. She earned her PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology from Charles Sturt University, focusing on zoonotic brucellosis in smallholder farms. Before joining APCOVE, Dr. Arif worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), leading projects related to animal health. Her expertise includes mixed methods research, diagnostic evaluations, Bayesian analysis, and participatory epidemiology. She is passionate about teaching epidemiology to veterinarians and postgraduate students and is actively involved in outbreak investigations and diagnostic test evaluations. At APCOVE, Dr. Arif coordinates field epidemiology training in Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, and oversees activities in Laos, Cambodia, PNG, and Timor-Leste. We are excited to have Dr. Arif on our team and look forward to her contributions.
